ClickFunnels VS LeadPages Review (Which One Is Better?)

Welcome to my review of two of the biggest giants in the sales funnel and landing page spaces, Clickfunnels Vs. Leadpages.

I decided to write and compare these two products due to the massive popularity of both. Each platform comes with it's own pros and cons, and the unaware buyer needs to know about each brand's respective features in order to make an educated decision when it comes to each product.

I've used both in the past, and have experience creating winning campaigns with both - which I believe will assist me in accurately reviewing and sizing up the platforms for their merits and to help the individual consumer (that's you, buddy), figure out which one is best for their business.

Before I get any further, let me ask you a simple question...

Why Do You Need To Create Landing Pages?

Users who visit landing pages are giving you some of the most valuable information that business owners and online marketers can possess.

Either their swiping their credit cards to purchase your amazing product offer, or their giving you their precious EMAIL ADDRESS in exchange for some valuable content that you can then deliver fresh to their email inbox.

You're either collecting the loot from the customer for your product/service promotion or collecting valuable consumer information that you can then use in the future to create long-term revenue for your business.

That's why there is such a heavy focus on landing page software!

We're all obsessed with creating the perfect landing page to increase conversions and have the best opportunity to nurture our leads throughout our entire sales funnel to create revenue and profits for ourselves!

So, Why Do We Need Software For This?

Back in the caveman days of the internet (think circa 1997), it took a team of developers AGES to create a converting landing page for their product/service.

They had to go from page conceptualization to finished lander with all of the intricate coding and formatting that comes from building websites from scratch.

Not only is this time intensive project an inefficient use of your resources in the modern age of the internet, it's also likely going to result in an inferior product when compared to your competitors.

Companies such as ClickFunnels, Leadpages, Builderall, Instapage, Unbounce, etc. have emerged into the arena to offer their landing page templates and sales funnel creation opportunities to the mass market for quite a long time now

What this means is that they've been competing with each other to create the best product for their consumers (us, the business owners who need their software). They've literally been incentivized to make your business more profitable by creating the best landing page templates for the mass market in order to compete in their own industry.

When you purchase one of these landing page softwares, you're getting the best landing page creation opportunities available to the market and all of these beautiful, glamorous landing pages can be implemented and injected onto your website in a matter of minutes.

Instead of spending weeks like developers in the past did, you can create a BETTER CONVERTING landing page in 10 minutes, thanks to these softwares!

If you're unaware, conversion rates are vital to your business, so don't even question the importance of having an amazing converting landing page for better profits.

This article is really an in-depth analysis of the pros and cons between the two biggest players in the market at the moment. Leadpages and Clickfunnels are widely regarded as two of the best at what they do, so I wanted to nit-pick the intricate details of each platform in order to help YOU figure out which one is better for your business.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think both of these platforms are amazing, but one platform will be better for one person who's using it for different business functions than another person, which means that I'll need to clarify which person should use one platform over the other in order to help guide YOU, the reader, to a more educated decision.

Because there's so many players in the sales funnel and landing page creation market, it can make it overwhelming for the conscious consumer to make a good decision about which product suits their needs best. However, like I mentioned previously, this is actually great for consumers because the competition forced between the companies in the space creates a better overall product for the consumer in the end.

LeadPages Vs. ClickFunnels

To reiterate, both of these platforms I'm about to cover are some of the BEST software on the market today.

Your decision between the two will really come down to the necessary functions that you need each platform to perform optimally for your business needs.

Despite the differences, there is also quite a lot of overlap between the two products.

To create a good comparison between the two products, it's important to realize what each platform does (and how well it does it). Let's jump right in by starting with Leadpages!

LeadPages Review

Leadpages is a simple, yet highly effective, drag and drop landing page creator. While ClickFunnels does this same function (and covers a wider range of business needs with further sales funnel creation), Leadpages sticks to the basics of what an effective landing page creation tool should do...

In other words, Leadpages prioritizes the actual landing page optimization, while ClickFunnels prioritizes the entire sales funnel. This lack of sales funnel support doesn't detract from Leadpages' effectiveness and potency, in actuality it can be seen as a plus as the laser-like focus that LeadPages has set on landing page optimization has made their software perfect in many ways.

They integrate with many email service providers to allow users to capture leads for further marketing and promotion through other 3rd party tools. This simplicity has allowed Leadpages to focus on minimalistic qualities for their software, reducing loading times and the "clunkiness" of the software itself. You can churn out high converting landing pages all day with this software with absolutely zero coding knowledge necessary.

Simply put: Leadpages are the best at what they do!

Going with Leadpages grants the user plenty of access to amazing features such as:

  • Mobile-friendly template creation and optimization.
  • Drag and drop customization for a massive array of elements such as text widgets, headers, images, videos, lists, tables, buttons, etc. Furthermore, this drag and drop customization is 100% seamless and smooth.
  • High converting pop-up boxes.
  • Built in payment processors to easily collect cash from customers.
  • Instant Facebook ad creation.
  • Automatic Facebook pixel placement on website.
  • Audience insights for advertisement optimization
  • Ability to rigorously A/B test with platform functions.
  • 3rd party integrations for days (email integrations, webinar integrations, payment processors, etc.).
  • Amazingly designed analytics for metrics such as conversion rates, unique visitors, etc.
  • HTML editing options
  • SEO-Friendly Page Creation
  • WordPress plugin
  • Support
  • Supreme Hosting for lightning-quick load times.

What Role Does LeadPages Play In Your Business?

As I mentioned previously, these two platforms can serve similar (yet still different) functions for your online business.

What LeadPages specializes in is simply creating stunning landing pages, that's it.

They've focused all of their attention on what is known as the "front-end" of the sales and marketing funnel.

If you're trying to collect leads for your business, you'll need 3rd party integrations to collect emails and promote to your leads in the future.

This isn't a HUGE deal, as 3rd party integrations are easy with leadpages, check out this video below to gain insight on how to integrate the GetResponse platform with LeadPages software to seamlessly collect leads and have the ability to market to them in the future:

While ClickFunnels is known as a complete sales funnel solution, I still believe that you should use a 3rd party mailer in conjunction with ClickFunnels (though you can use ClickFunnels as a complete sales funnel solution for your business, and save some money on a mailer too!).

What I'm trying to establish by mentioning this tidbit is that: The lack of sales funnel support is not a BIG detracting factor for Leadpages.

Leadpages places such a HIGH emphasis on quality landing pages, that they're really the best at what they do.

Both ClickFunnels and Leadpages offer a plethora of landing page templates, and you can utilize these templates for a wide variety of purposes. For LeadPages in particular, you can use their templates for:

  1. Holding and Hosting Webinars
  2. Create Opt-in Forms (With opt-in boxes also easily embedded within blogs, to easily collect leads from content)
  3. Text Message Lead Generation (HOT METHOD)
  4. Sales and Information Page Creation
  5. Thank You Page Creation

Case Study: How PowToons Grew to 7 Million Users With LeadPages

PowToons allows its users to create animated videos and presentations using their simple drag-and-drop software.

They've been using LeadPages for quite a long time now, and their founder absolutely swears by the technology!

Here's what happened to their business in a nutshell from using the platform:

The A/B functionality of LeadPages (combined with killer templates and conversion rate optimization within the platform itself), has given PowToons a competitive advantage in their niche and helped them grow extroadinarily well!

Here's what one of their landing page designs looks like (for their webinar sign ups, where they close sales daily):

And, they didn't stop there. Despite the nice aesthetic of this landing page, PowToons realized that the importance behind conversion rate optimization using split testing is vital to the growth of their business. They found the best converting landing page possible  using the LeadPage, and as such have a competitive advantage that's hard to beat:

LeadPages Integrations

Leadpages offers a wide variety of integrations to make the job easier for you to execute:

Analytics Platforms - Having solid data backing your individual landing page campaigns is vital for optimizing and split testing landing pages (to actually see which ones are converting best, where visitor's eyes are most drawn to, etc.). That being said, it's a no-brainer that Leadpage integrates with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and all the various Javascript Analytics Platforms that developers have created. This gives users many options for how they want to track their data!

all of the tools that leadpages integrates with seamlessly.

CRM Integrations - These softwares make entrepreneur and business owners' lives much easier post-lead capture. Despite the amazing landing page creation software that Leadpages offers, they don't offer functional sales funnel management. These platforms can make or break your business, and they integrate amazingly easy with LeadPages

E-Commerce Platform Integrations - While Leadpages can really be helpful to e-commerce businesses for selling individual bundles or hard-selling specific physical products, it's still vital for them to host their store on one of the various e-commerce platforms. Leadpages has you covered by allowing you to integrate with the top e-commerce players in the space:

Email Platform Integrations - Here's lies the most important integration section for many people reading this post. Many users collect emails using Leadpages' fantastic opt-in forms, but they need an integration with email softwares in order to actually market to their audience in the future! Leadpages integrates seamlessly with most email softwares, including:

PPC traffic (paid-per-click traffic) is often times vital to growing a business. Once you know you're profitable (by split-testing offers, landers, etc.), then you can afford to unload the firehose of traffic that advertising platforms offer straight at your landing pages, growing your business exponentially in the process:

LeadPages Pricing

Leadpages offers various pricing models for their users.

The Pro plan is their most popular plan, and the one I recommend for beginners. In comparison with ClickFunnels, Leadpages is much cheaper.

This definitely must be taken into account for people deciding between the two platforms for their business needs. Just be aware that ClickFunnels also comes with a more fully-fleshed out business plan, which can't be forgotten when comparing the two!

You can also get the plans on a monthly, annual and 2-year subscription basis. This is ideal for users with various types of funding, as it doesn't force them to be locked into the platform for more than one month at a time (although you'll be paying slightly more to use the month to month plan, which is to be expected).

Monthly Subscribers Pay:

  •  Standard: $37/month
  • Pro: $79/month
  • Advanced: $321/month

Annual Subscribers Pay:

  • Standard: $25/month
  • Pro: $48/month
  • Advanced: $199/month

2-Year Subscribers Pay:

  • Standard: $17/month
  • Pro: $42/month
  • Advanced: $159/month

For an updated list of the above pricing breakdown, check out this page on the LeadPage website.

ClickFunnels Review

While I played up the strengths of the LeadPages platform (in that they allow users to develop beautiful landing pages that are pre-packaged to convert), it may sound like I was implying that ClickFunnels doesn't accomplish this same feat.

On the contrary, ClickFunnels itself is one of the best lead/landing page creation software on the planet.

However, this really is just the beginning with ClickFunnels.

When you purchase CF you're getting access to a suite of tools that can allow you to create and launch an entire business online!

This makes sense when you think about the name itself. "ClickFunnels" is primarily a complete sales funnel solution for businesses.

Now, you may be asking, what exactly is a sales funnel? This image below should break down the "funnel" that is behind every good business on the planet:

sales funnel overview

Your goal with a sales funnel is really to move customers from a general awareness to "action" taking (purchasing the product/service that you're promoting).

This is the specialty behind ClickFunnels, and their software is designed for online marketers to build the sales funnel from scratch and really build an entire business within!

The landing page itself is just a portion of the sales funnel, and ClickFunnels definitely covers you on that front, but they allow you to organize and encapsulate the entire sales funnel within their system (think multiple landers leading up to a sales event).

ClickFunnels Features

Here are some statistics straight from their website as a "mark" of the validity behind their business and product.

ClickFunnels helps explain what their business is all about far better than any reviewer can do, as they understand that the experts on the products/services they're promoting should be the company themselves (something you should take into account in order to become an expert at what you're doing).

Here are just SOME of the main features included with ClickFunnels:

How to Use ClickFunnels

With some of the best training for its users, ClickFunnels practically holds your hands to an online income, and shows you what it really takes to make it with your business.

Really though, the first step is to choose a sales funnel in which you're going to build your business upon. This will be your bread and butter to building your bankroll, and their are a variety of paths you can go down to start out.

ClickFunnels comes with 6 pre-built sales funnels that you can steal in order to get started right away. I've included the share funnel link so you can download these funnels directly into your new ClickFunnels account and get started right away. Simply click on the funnel you want and it will be shared to your account instantly!

  1. Best Selling Book Funnel
  2. Product Launch Funnel
  3. Perfect Webinar Funnel
  4. Physical Product "Real Stuff" Funnel
  5. FishBowl Funnel
  6. Network Marketing Bridge Funnel

Need even more funnel types that are, unoffically, included with your ClickFunnels account (these are from some of the top members in the ClickFunnels support community)? Click here to get the full list of funnels available to every member of ClickFunnels.

Of course, you could start creating your own sales funnel from scratch, and there is plenty of support to help you get started, but it's much easier to get started with one of these ClickFunnels share funnels!

Next, you'll want to access each step within the sales funnel and customize it towards your offering. I recommend you start using Clickfunnels for affiliate marketing, assuming you don't have your own product/service. Using the shared sales funnel templates will allow you to edit and include your own opt-in forms and/or affiliate links to start making money from your new funnel!

Then, it's simply a matter of launching your funnel to start generating traffic, leads and sales. Of course, you'll want to learn more about this step, as it's often the hardest part, but doing it correctly will be the most profitable thing for your business in the long run!

ClickFunnels Integrations

There are tons of platforms that ClickFunnels integrates nicely with (the same can be said with Leadpages).

Remember though that this is a full sales funnel solution, so you won't necessarily need many of the platforms they integrate with, as the basic functions of your business are accounted for with the ClickFunnels software already!

Another noteworthy integration is the popular Shopify platform. ClickFunnels works wonderfully with Shopify, and if you want to read more about these two platforms and how they can really gel together, I recommend you look no further than this review.

ClickFunnels Pricing

ClickFunnels is widely known in the industry for offering an amazing free trial to get you hooked onto the platform!

You get 14 days to try out the platform in its entirety before you get billed (cancel anytime before the 14 days is up to avoid being billed). You get a 14 day LeadPages trial when going through my links, and it seems that both ClickFunnels and LeadPages are hopping on an established trial bandwagon within the software space.

There are two plans that come with Clickfunnels pricing model, the Basic plan and the Enterprise plan.

The Basic Plan is $97/month with key features including:

  • 20 implementable funnels
  • 100 total pages
  • 20k visitors a month

The Enterprise plan including "Actionetics" is $297/month with key features including:

  • Unlimited funnels
  • Unlimited domains
  • Unlimited visitors
  • Unlimited pages

Basically, you get everything you need at an unlimited quantity to start and run an online business with the enterprise plan (whereas the basic plan allows you to do everything at a more limited scale). Despite the higher pricing model, ClickFunnels is most definitely worth it and is definitely not a scam.

Here's the total value you're getting with ClickFunnels:

So, Which One is Better for YOUR Business?

So, after reading everything I've laid out about both platforms, it's now up to you to decide which platform is better for your business.

If you're needing a finely honed landing page software that can integrate additional cost 3rd party applications, then Leadpages may be best for you.

If you want a business basically ready to grow with you and the software necessary to encapsulate an entire business from the ground up, then Clickfunnels is your best bet.

This is entirely relative to you, the consumer. Keep this in mind when deciding which platform to choose.

Personally, I believe that ClickFunnels offers the best value for your money, and I personally use it now exclusively for all of my business sales funnel creation.

Honestly though, these are the BEST platforms for online business owners to use, in my opinion. Their functionality, features, and pricing really allow you to grow an online business in a variety of ways. You can't go wrong with either platform, but one will require further software and outside-the-box execution to make the same things happen that the other already provides.

Many of the posts on my website can help you with ClickFunnels (as it's what I specialize in!), and if you're looking to start an easy business online, then I recommend you check out my article on making money with Facebook next, as the info in there can help you make money for these platforms (or allow you to make money online without the platforms at all, Facebook is a gem of a social media platform for making money online).

Furthermore, I'm aware that many people need cheaper alternatives to ClickFunnels and Leadpages - especially as you are jump starting a business (and funds are a tight option). While I believe these platforms are the best at what they do, respectively, I can understand the need for other options such as Builderall. You may even want to try another type of business model, in which case I recommend you look here.
